Happy New Year!
This year’s winter escape took place in Phuket in Thailand followed by Singapore, the latter being a new destination to us hence our lack of knowledge of what the city’s luxury hotel scene is like.
Our first stop was the Carlton Hotel Singapore, located in the heart of Singapore’s civic district. The hotel brands itself as a business hotel, which is why you’d often see corporate or airline staff in the lobby. However, for a business hotel, the vibe wasn’t “cold” and “corporate” as one would experience in some establishments.
The hotel was clean and organized. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Its best selling point is without doubt the location. Being within walking distance of shopping areas and landmarks such as CHIJMES, Esplanade, Marina Bay Sands, The National Museum of Singapore, and Raffles City Shopping Centre (just across the street), Carlton Hotel Singapore is the perfect place for accommodation to explore Singapore.
The breakfast had a wide variety of Singaporean and Western dishes and we especially enjoyed the daily cocktail hour form 6-8 pm where light snacks are provided as well.
If we were talking about Thailand, we wouldn’t need to mention the friendliness and service of hotel staff cause everyone is friendly. However, we feel that people who are service minded with a smile in Singapore is more of a rarity and were positively surprised by the maid on our floor. Incredibly happy woman who greeted us with smiles and laughter during our stay there. It’s a small thing but enough to create a warm atmosphere.
Carlton Hotel Singapore may not be the creme le da creme of luxury hotels in Singapore but for a starting price of 200€ a night in the center of Singapore, you won’t go wrong with choosing them for your stay in the Garden City. If possible, the Club Lounge Access is a nice add-on as you get access to their club on the 19th floor where you have a gorgeous view of the city’s iconic skyline and can work/relax there while enjoying the included drinks and food.
