Macau – the “Las Vegas of Asia” is known for its gambling tourism but just like Las Vegas, the city is also a heaven for food lovers. Whether you are into cheap eats or Michelin meals, Macau has something for everyone. Especially for Michelin hunters, Macau has 20 Michelin starred restaurants, 3 of them holding 3 stars.
Rarely is a steakhouse awarded a star but The Kitchen Macau located within the Grand Lisboa has managed this by offering a wide selection of the finest steaks from around the world. Japanese Kobe to Australian Wagyu to Korean Hanwoo – the entrance displays these meats for you to choose from and as soon as you have selected your desired piece, it will be cooked to perfection on a hot grill.
Tips for choosing your steak: Kobe beef are graded from A1 to A5, where A5 is the highest grade with an extensive fat content as depicted in the photo below. Kobe is therefore good to try out a piece but for a steak, Korean Hanwoo or Black Angus would have more beef flavor as the fat content is around 40% compared to Wagyu and Kobe’s 70%.
Price range
Michelin experiences are not cheap but The Kitchen Macau does not exaggerate when it comes to prices. Currently, their 5-course menu goes for around 140€ and includes a 100g A4 Wagyu steak or a 500g lobster as well as fine starters such as French oysters and scallops with caviar.
If you are in Hong Kong and are dropping by Macau, The Kitchen is definitely worth a visit especially if you are fan of steaks. Even if you’re not a meat-lover, their sashimi is as fresh as it can get.
